Timothy Peters and Premier Racing debut at Lowe’s Motor Speedway
Premier Racing of Danville, Virginia made its first start at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 16th in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200, and its owners could not be more excited. Timothy Peters is the driver who piloted the #17 Hayes Metal and Iron Recycling/Tahoe Smokeless Tobacco Dodge in Charlotte, and he promised a solid effort for their inaugural race. “I almost thought I wouldn’t have another chance to race in the Truck Series this year, but I have found the support of several partners who see my vision and determination and who want to go out and compete for wins in the Truck Series,” commented Peters. “I have spent several months working hand-in-hand with my partners to find the best people, resources and equipment to field a competitive team, and I believe we will have an immediate impact in the series.” This partnership encompasses three new owners: Philip Hudgins, Scot Jones, Steve Stallings and a driver (Peters) who will all have an equity position in the team. “When we decided to invest in a Craftsman Truck Series team, we knew the financial obstacles and competitive hurdles that a new team faces, but we are determined to gain a foothold in the series,” said Hudgins, a prominent businessman who resides in Danville.
The team will have the support of Arrington Motors for the balance of the 2008 season. In addition, the team will compete in a limited schedule consisting of 8-10 races and looks to enter the series on a full time basis in 2009. Hudgins added “We fully intend to enter as many races as we can in 2008, but we want to assure everyone that we have all the pieces of the puzzle put together for a full time campaign in 2009.” The team will announce its extended 2008 schedule in the coming weeks and looks forward to being a mainstay in the Craftsman Truck Series for years to come.
